100 Kilometers

100 Kilometers is an art project organized spontaneously by artists, who participate contemporary art practice in different unconventional spaces in cities. It encourages local young artists and supports trials, thoughts or action experiment. Artists with different background are grouped together to form a temporary experimental community, which will promote and re-think the individual art production. In addition to the gallery and museum, 100 Kilometers try to build an autonomous platform for sustainable creation.

Everyone has a special preference for one of chemical elements, such as Gold or Copper, but Carbon and Oxygen are meaningful to each individual. Baidu Encyclopedia shows that human body contains oxygen 65% and carbon 18%, I try to start working with the very basic element Carbon. solid coal and soft charcoal are the homogeneous materials in nature, but have heterogeneous chemical or physical properties.

Coal plays a role in heating only for industries, and charcoal is well known as an active ingredient due to its porous microstructure, it often servers as gas / water purification in our ordinary life. They are two sides of a coin. I recorded breadth sounds of seven persons and one cat, while the audience puts on headphone to listen to it, I hope it will trigger their perception on unhealthy smog, which is becoming a big problem in most cities in China.

Talk Lithium Battery First

Tesla Corporation announced the shutdown for Model S 85 in 2016, which power was supplied by more than 7,000 lithium batteries. It consumed 85 degrees of electricity energy in an hour. It is almost equal to the monthly consumption in my studio, that is, an average of 2.8 degrees per day.

All works were plugged and power had to flow through one electricity meter. One piece of 18650 lithium battery (Tesla used) served as the charger for mobile phone. The patent about lithium battery, which I published in 2003, was placed next to the phone, and finally a high voltage electric, generated by tesla coils, would break down air to produce an electrical arc, moreover, it will be plasma speaker to transform audio signal into the physical sound.

Household appliances have been moved to the exhibition hall, coffee machine, desktop, etc., I expect viewers to perceive how much 85 degrees is, and what is lithium battery for. If meter reading increases by 2.8 degrees a day, the staff will cut off the power of all works.

I | Water-scape Study I

I intentionally or unconsciously wondered how my work should start for third round and how it should go in past three and a half months. The experience was tortuous. Investigating material such as an egg, but the thought still had many branches. Finally I have be back to personal experience. On a small island with one tree, I spent five hours alone, looking at the transformation of the water. This is all about the seeing of water, and I hope to show this tortuous process of thinking from A to C.

For Wow

Artwork sometimes brings problem to artist. A piece of work wrapped with wood box was shipped back to my studio once more at the end of 2016, at that moment I just wanted to pierce it by using a steel rod. I never opened it again and never showed this work inside wood box anywhere.

The word WOW, in some cases, is actually meaningless / Nothing.

Those Who gaze the Landscape

I accidentally picked up a map, on which someone had marked four red circles. The crane towers were magnificent landscape in locale, and the rest of the planning on the map had not been completed. There are a lot of valuable questions for intellectuals to discuss, but for travelers, they just look around and throw away cigarette butts, mineral water bottles, and plastic bags etc., and they are indifferent.
